Have you ever visited Rhodinia, or Gondwana, or old Avalonia?  Or crossed the wide Iapetus Ocean?  Have you ever seen the first plants that ever grew, or the first animal to leave a footprint?  The rocks of Ireland have been there, and have seen it all as they were forced to wander by a demanding machine - planet Earth.

Pádhraig taught geology at University College Dublin for many years. He is a research geologist who has published widely on granites and granite-related mineral deposits in Ireland and latterly in Poland. He is also a skilled communicator - well known as the writer and presenter of the popular television series Written in Stone.
